2023 Masters Betting Odds: Rory McIlroy and Scottie Scheffler Lead the Way for the Green Jacket

Bettors have put much money on defending champion Scottie Scheffler and Rory McIlroy, who would accomplish the career grand slam with a green jacket on Sunday, making them the favorites with the lowest odds at 7/1. Scheffler, who is fresh off his impressive 2022 year that propelled him to the world’s highest ranking, is responsible for more than 14% of BetMGM’s handle and 9% of the Masters tickets. McIlroy, the 33-year-old Northern Irishman with four major titles, also accounts for almost 12% of the money and 8% of the tickets.

Jon Rahm, the world’s third-ranked player, is second at 9/1. He is the only other contender with odds shorter than 10/1.

The Masters is the first of golf’s four majors and the 2023 tournament marks the unofficial start of the PGA Tour versus LIV Golf rivalry. Most of the current top players are on the US-based circuit, however, the LIV tour has some real contenders for the green jacket come Sunday. Cameron Smith, the 2022 Open and Players champion, who also won a LIV event in September, is ranked sixth in the world and has odds of 20/1. Other LIV players such as Brooks Koepka (33/1), Dustin Johnson (25/1), Bryson DeChambeau (100/1) and Phil Mickelson (200/1) are also in the running.

Tiger Woods, who hasn’t won a PGA Tour event since 2019, is still getting lots of attention from bettors. The five-time Masters champion, whose last win at Augusta came in 2019, is BetMGM’s third-largest liability, accounting for 4% of the betting tickets and 4% of the money. Tiger’s odds have increased from 40/1 to 66/1.
