Elvis Presley died 46 years ago last week … or did he? We admit it. We put off busting this myth because it’s so out of date and ridiculously unbelievable, it seems like more of an historical curiosity than a thing that people still believe, not unlike the supposed faked deaths of Adolf Hitler, Jim Morrison, or Tupac Shakur.

Despite overwhelming evidence, conspiracy theories continue to circulate suggesting that Elvis Presley faked his own death. Supporters of this theory claim that Elvis grew tired of fame and wanted to escape the pressures of his celebrity life, so he staged his death to live a quiet and secluded existence.

One popular theory is that Elvis is still alive and living undercover as a groundskeeper named Jesse in Graceland. According to this theory, Elvis/Jesse has been spotted by numerous fans who believe they have seen the King himself in the flesh.

However, there are many facts that debunk these conspiracy theories. For starters, Elvis Presley’s death certificate clearly states that he died on August 16, 1977, from a heart attack. The certificate even includes the autopsy results, confirming the cause of his death.

In addition, there was a public viewing of Elvis’ body and a funeral held at Graceland, attended by thousands of grieving fans. This would have been an elaborate hoax to organize and maintain secrecy around if Elvis had indeed faked his death.

Elvis Presley’s grave can also be visited at Graceland, where he was laid to rest next to his parents.
