Joe Asher is widely respected in the global sports betting industry and has been appointed to serve as the chair of the Woodrow Wilson International Center for Scholars Board of Trustees by President Joe Biden. The Woodrow Wilson Center, established in 1969, is a nonpartisan policy forum focusing on global issues, and is partially funded by Congress. Asher, a Las Vegas resident and SBC Sports Betting Hall of Fame inductee in 2021, brings his handicapping expertise and business acumen to the think tank. A graduate of the University of Delaware and Delaware Law School, Asher is also CEO of UK-based William Hill, one of the world’s largest bookmakers. He will lead the center’s staff of 150 and welcome 150 fellows yearly from over 100 countries to join the program, with a stipend of $90,000 a year for a nine-month fellowship. The Woodrow Wilson Center is primarily funded by private contributions and donations, and appropriations from Congress. Asher is eager to contribute his perspective as an outsider to the DC and New York bubbles, as well as his background in business, to the center’s mission of providing facts and solutions to key decision makers.
