Maryland Live! Casino & Hotel, a flagship property of The Cordish Companies, is poised for expansion as the organization continues to invest heavily in its gaming and hospitality business. The casino, which opened in 2012, is the first of its kind and is the foundation for the company to become one of the largest US gaming and hospitality firms.
Cordish has since opened two additional Live! casinos in Pennsylvania, namely Live! Casino & Hotel Philadelphia in 2021 and Live! Casino Pittsburgh a year prior. The Cordish Companies are also set to build a $1.4 billion integrated casino resort in Petersburg, Virginia, and are in pursuit of a second mini-casino in Pennsylvania.
The Cordish Companies are also planning to develop a residential community and shopping district, alongside Caesars Entertainment’s Harrah’s Pompano Beach racino in Florida. Additionally, the firm is progressing with a $70 million housing project in Arlington, TX. In late 2021, the company sold the property assets of its casinos in Maryland and Pennsylvania to Gaming and Leisure Properties, Inc. (GLPI) for $1.81 billion. However, Cordish continues to operate the casinos and keep the profits through a lease-back arrangement with GLPI.
